Living in the Philippines for a few months makes me (sometimes) want to eat different food rather than Filipino food. Don't get me wrong. I love Pinoy food but sometimes I crave for other food like pizza, pasta or just any international or European delicatessen.
Today, I have made corned beef wraps. I saw pre-baked tortillas for making wraps in Gaisano supermarket. It was the first time I saw it there. I grab the opportunity and bought a package of tortillas. 1 package has 6 pieces of tortillas. I would never know when I see those kind of wrappers again.
INGREDIENTS : 6 Persons
1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 garlic, crushed and thinly sliced
50 grams corned beef
1 piece of spring onion, sliced thinly
6 pieces of pre-baked tortillas
6 tablespoons of mayonnaise
2 carrots, grated
3 leaves Chinese cabbage, thinly sliced
2 ripe tomatoes, cubes
1 hibiscus flower, petals and washed (optional)
6 tablespoons of ketchup
Salt and pepper to taste
Heated Tortilla Wrappers
LET'S MAKE THE WRAPS:
1. Put the oil in the heated frying pan and saute the garlic. Then add the corned beef. Stir it well. Then add the spring onion and taste with salt and pepper. Set aside.
2. Heat the tortilla wrappers as directed in the package. Let them cool.
3. Then spread a tablespoon of mayonnaise on the wrapper.
4. Add the fried corned beef on top.
5. Then add the carrots, cabbage, hibiscus petals, tomatoes and sprinkled with salt and pepper. Then spread 1 tablespoon ketchup on top.
6. Roll the corned beef wraps by folding both sides first. Then roll the wrap upward.
7. Do the same until you have made 6 pieces of corned beef wraps.
8. Cut the corned beef wraps in the middle like the one in the photo. You can see how they look like inside. 4 slices of them have no ketchup included as I wanted to taste the difference and they are deliciously mouth watering.
Tips:
You can use Remoulade instead of mayonnaise.
If you want it spicy and hot, you can add chili powder.
Just in case you have vegetable leftover, you can make it into salad.
So here you go. Enjoy making your wraps. You can serve these as snacks, for lunch or for dinner. It's up to you. Thanks for reading. Feel free to share this recipe to your social media sites like fb, and share this to your friends and family as well.
